Architectural Television Shows to Watch in the Philippines

Pause for some outfit posts. This time, I'm going back to one thing I really love: architecture. As an architecture student, it is easy to find inspirations from other designs. With just one click, you can easily find stuffs on the internet. But one there is one problem: most of the information are very limited. No floor plans, tours and background provided. That's what television shows' advantages are. But another problem: what shows should I watch?

Unfortunately, if you search Mr. Google, you will never find the right results so I decided to create this post so you will have an idea of what to watch that I am also eyeing.

Urban Zone
ABS-CBN Channel 2, Sundays, 12MN

It started out as a 30-minute television show but sad to say, the show is now defunct. Why is it still the number one on the list? It's because it's the first ever architecture show I have watched and it is just so awesome! It's quite frustrating at how such great shows end without notice. But although it is not airing anymore, they have continued their webisodes on YouTube. Also, if you want to get more of them, you can check out their host Daphne OseƱa-Paez blog that features the latest on architecture, interiors and furniture. She was even featured on Vogue Italia for her contribution in the architectural scene.

To know more of the show, you can visit their Website, Facebook Page, YouTube Channel as well as Daphne's Blog and Twitter.

Design Para Sa Lahat
GMA News TV Channel 11, Saturdays, 11:30 AM

Searching for a show that features not only architecture, but fashion, lifestyle and even entrepreneurship as well? Then this show is perfect for you! Dedicated to bring out the best in the design field in every industry, the show aims to showcase the amazing talent of Filipinos in design. From woven fabrics to nail art, the show is just full of surprises. Prepare for an overload of design inspirations!

Landmarks
Net-25, Sundays, 7PM

By the name itself, the show is actually a travel show. But upon watching every episode, you can really learn a lot from the culture, tradition and history of a place. Perfect those who love ancestral houses and urban planning back in the days. What I love about this show is that they clearly emphasize the way of living in a certain place and how it's history influenced the people. In relevance to architecture, you can easily learn adaptability of design in different places. A travel and architecture show in one! Plus, they have won multiple awards so you really get the best!

Powerhouse
GMA News TV Channel 11, Tuesdays, 8PM

With Mel Tiangco, one of the country's top news anchor as the host, is there any reason not to love this show? I've been watching this since its first episode and I have never missed one. One thing I love about this is more than the architectural side, it features the top personalities of the country, from politicians to businessmen to philanthropist and even controversial stars. Invading their personal lifestyle, you get to learn more about them, their stories of successes and how their house was built. Plus, they give you a tour of their home, telling what piece is that and those, what material used, etc. Lastly, the cameras used are just awesome. I love the blur and focused effect of it everytime there is an interview. It's a must-see show.

Home Base
GMA News TV Channel 11, Saturdays, 9AM

Well, to be honest, I am not really able to catch up with their episodes since Saturday is my rest day and that's the time where I can wake up at any time, usually that is 11AM.. lazy me! Haha. But this show is very interesting. The show features everything about the architecture and engineering side of building a house. From choosing a lot to the right materials and equipment up to the finishing touches and details, I really find this show very educational especially with coping up with the latest technology in home design.

That's it! I hope I can help you feed up your hunger for architectural shows. Keep the spirit coming!

Cheers~!

I love Urban Zone because it talks about the house and its features and details. plus of course, Daphne is a great host. I also watch Power House not only because of the house featured but also of the stories of the people who owns the place.

Hmm it seems like your blog ate my first comment (it was
super long) so I guess I'll just sum it up what I had written and say, I'm thoroughly enjoying
your blog. I too am an aspiring blog writer but I'm still new to the whole thing. Do you have any suggestions for beginner blog writers? I'd definitely appreciate it.
